Psychotic Disorder

A collection of severe mental illnesses known as psychotic disorders are characterized by psychotic symptoms. Psychosis is not a disease, but a collection of symptoms. Some people refer to it as "losing touch with reality." When someone is in psychosis, their thoughts and how they understand them are probably disrupted, making it difficult for them to distinguish between what is genuine and what is reality.

According to DSM 5 Psychosis is when a person has abnormalities in thoughts and perceptions in any of these ways

• False beliefs that a person is unable to recognize are called delusions.

• Sensory experiences that other people are unable or unwilling to share are known as hallucinations.

• Disorganized speech or thought patterns, which are mental processes that lack coherence, linearity, and goal-directedness

• Disorganized behavior, a pattern of unpredictability or inappropriateness in behavior.

• The reduction or loss of regular functioning is a negative symptom. For example, the individual can cease to show any feelings. They might also cease talking entirely or just say specific words.
